SYLVANIA—Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania gathered May 10 in Queen of Peace Chapel to offer prayers for peace and to bless an icon depicting Francis’ visit to Damietta, Egypt, in 1219, to meet Sultan Malek al-Kamil. Imam Farooq Aboelzahaab and other representatives from the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo attended the event.

Franciscan Friar Robert Lenz created the three-paneled icon, which was acquired after four Sylvania Franciscan Sisters traveled to Colorado Springs for a workshop, “Franciscans and Muslims in Dialogue.”
The icon has been hung in Madonna Hall, just to the right of the chapel entrance.
