GREEN SPRINGS—St. Francis Health Care Centre in Green Springs, a health care facility for the elderly and physically challenged, is looking for volunteers who would like to share in its mission of providing compassionate care to centre residents.
Retirees, students who need service hours and any others interested can volunteer at St. Francis in various ways, including helping with direct care for patients and residents, working in the gift shop or cafeteria or helping with fundraisers.
A fundraiser coming soon is “Bike Day 2008” scheduled for Sept. 21. The annual ride-in bike show takes place at the St. Francis Health Care Centre where motorcycle riders are invited to “Join the Ride” and participate for prizes. Motorcyclists meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Green Springs VFW on state Route 19. The parade to St. Francis is at noon.
In addition to riders, the organization is seeking vendors for Bike Day. Each vendor has space to accommodate an 8-foot table or 10-foot by 10-foot tent. Vendors are responsible for bringing their own tables and/or tents. The cost for each space is $25 and the deadline to register is Sept. 8.
For information on Bike Day 2008 or volunteer opportunities, contact Andrea Wise at 419-639-6226 or visit the St. Francis Health Care Centre Web site at www.sfhcc.org.
