Catholic school educators study renewable energy |

TOLEDO—Six Catholic school teachers and one administrator are participating in the University of Toledo’s LEADERS program.
Awards were granted to six teachers and one principal from Toledo diocesan schools to study renewable energy education. The LEADERS program — Leadership for Educators: Academy for Driving Economic Revitalization in Science — is a three-year commitment requiring attendance in three summer institutes beginning in 2010 and continuing the next two academic years.
Participants include Susan Bastian of Sylvania Franciscan Academy, Brooke Bradley of the Rosary Cathedral Campus of Central City Ministries of Toledo Catholic School, Susan Grod of Rossford All Saints, Kristi McKinley of Toledo St. Francis de Sales High School, Mary Ann Obringer of New Washington St. Bernard, Peggy Riehl of Toledo Gesu and Tim Mahoney of Oregon Cardinal Stritch High School.
Participants receive honoraria for the coursework over the three years (worth more than $15,000) summer stipends ($4,000 each summer) and 10 days of
release time during the academic year.
