TOLEDO—The Diocese of Toledo has named Jeanie Bugert Hayward as the director of Central City Ministry of Toledo (CCMT) Catholic School.

Central City Ministry of Toledo has a 40-year history of supporting the mission of Catholic elementary education in the central city, with nearly 450 students enrolled at two campuses:  Rosary Cathedral on Collingwood Avenue and Queen of Apostles on Courtland and Broadway in the Historic Old South End.

Mrs. Hayward brings to CCMT a wealth of professional experience as an educator and is to provide a strong visionary plan to achieve academic and financial goals for the two K-8 campuses.

“I am truly excited to have this opportunity of working with the staff and faculty of our CCMT School/two campuses to further instill love, passion, respect, discipline and academics in the youth so they will have the basic tools to become responsible adults,” said Mrs. Hayward.

Mrs. Hayward is no stranger to Central City Ministry, having developed and taught a program called “Learning in Motion” to the primary grade students at CCMT for the past 10 years.  “Learning in Motion” is a brain-based learning experience that incorporates dance and movement into the school curriculum.

Mrs. Hayward began her career as a first grade teacher and taught for several years in the Sylvania Public and Toledo Public School systems. In addition to acting as director of the Toledo Ballet School from 2000 to 2003, she has taught ballet for the past 15 years. She was a teacher at Olivet Christian Nursery School before becoming its director and served in that position for 12 years.

A graduate of DeVilbiss High School, Mrs. Hayward earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toledo where she also undertook graduate study in guidance and counseling.
