LIMA—Every year there are students at Lima St. Gerard who ask to be baptized and become members of the Catholic church.

This year eight students received the sacrament of baptism and two students made a profession of faith during an all-school Mass March 5.

The school’s mission includes proclaiming the Gospel by word and action. Both Catholic and non-Catholic students have opportunities to discuss their beliefs, pray together and learn about the Catholic faith and traditions.

“Often students and families are looking for the caring, customs and community that we have to offer,” says Mary Camp, principal at St. Gerard. “Each year when we celebrate the sacrament of baptism with a student it increases our sense of family. We celebrate a student choosing Jesus [and] wanting to become a member of the Catholic faith.”
