TOLEDO—Two Toledo St. Ursula Academy seniors — Haley Herman of Sylvania and Rachel Kalinoski of Toledo — have been named semifinalists in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Haley and Rachel are two of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 55th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These high school seniors met all the requirements to advance to finalist standing in the competition. All finalists are to be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2010.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which serves as an initial screening of approximately 1.5 million entrants each year, and meeting other program requirements.
