Four young people on the Diocesan Youth Council (DYC) and three adult leaders, led by Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz, Toledo diocesan coordinator of Youth Ministry, attended the “One Bread, One Cup” Summer Liturgical Leadership Conferences for High School Youth and Campus and Youth Ministers on the campus of Saint Meinrad School of Theology in Indiana.

During the five-day conference, the youth learned about their Catholic faith through sessions of catechesis, liturgical and spiritual formation and participation in liturgies. They also trained in liturgical ministries, such as lector, Eucharistic minister and cantor, learning skills they can use in their parishes and high schools.

The conference is held three times each summer as a program of St. Meinrad School of Theology. The school is operated by the Benedictine monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey and offers initial and continuing education for priests, permanent deacons and lay ministers.

Attending the conference were Kate Martin of Columbus Grove St. Anthony, Ashley Hoehn of Ottoville Immaculate Conception, Stasia Phillips of Lexington Resurrection and Haley Phillips of Toledo St. Joan of Arc. Adults attending were Cathy Figliomeni of Toledo Little Flower, Bryce Roberts, DYC facilitator of Toledo Blessed Sacrament and Deacon Ziemkiewicz.
