LIMA—The 40 Days for Life campaign is being presented in Lima, where a kick-off rally is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 8 at the Lima Knights of Columbus.
40 Days for Life is an intensive pro-life campaign that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of peaceful vigil at abortion facilities and 40 days of grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods.
Lima and the surrounding area is one of many communities from coast to coast conducting simultaneous 40 Days for Life campaigns from March 9 through April 17.
“We want to start this effort by drawing members of the communities together to share the vision of 40 Days for Life and to pray for God’s blessings on this effort,” says Sheri Ketner, spokesperson for the Lima and surrounding area 40 Days for Life campaign. “It is time to focus attention on the harm abortion has done to our city.”
Speakers at the 40 Days for Life kickoff event include Scott Dove of the Firm Foundation Christian Center; Father Tim Ferris, chaplain at Lima Central Catholic High School; and Jan Kahle from Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Toledo and Putnam County Right to Life.
“This rally will begin 40 days of prayer and fasting, with special attention to prayer outside the abortion facility at Capital Care Network, 222 South Elizabeth, as well as various types of community outreach,” Ms. Ketner says. “We look forward to seeing what kind of transformation God will bring about in our city.”
