TOLEDO—The keynote speaker for Foundation for Life’s 10th Annual “Benefit for Life” Charity Reception is David Bereit, national director of the “40 Days for Life” campaign.

This event is the major fundraiser for Foundation for Life; it helps to raise the budget to furnish pro-life media outreaches such as the Truth Booth stages-of-life kiosk, citywide billboards, newspaper ad campaigns, and pro-life publicity. It begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at The Pinnacle, 1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee.

Mr. Bereit spent 11 years in professional pharmaceutical sales and marketing before he resigned in 2001 to devote his full-time energy to the pro-life movement. He helped start “Coalition for Life,” a nonprofit organization that rallied more than 60 churches and thousands of community members together for life. He also became an outspoken pro-life advocate, working to prevent Planned Parenthood from building an abortion clinic in his town and to get its controversial sex-education materials removed from area schools — he was successful in both missions.

After serving as executive director of American Life League and national director of Stop Planned Parenthood, Mr. Bereit was asked to become the national director of “40 Days for Life,” a community-based pro-life campaign that began in 2004. This life-saving campaign is a 40-day initiative to pray, fast, and participate in peaceful outreach at local abortion clinics held in more than 135 cities each spring and fall.

Mr. Bereit’s pro-life work has been featured in national media, including on all major television networks, numerous radio programs and newspapers. His work gained attention on the 30th anniversary of Roe v. Wade when his hometown was featured on ABC’s “Nightline” as one of two American communities shaping the abortion debate.

At Foundation for Life’s Benefit, Mr. Bereit will share success stories about the life-saving impact “40 Days for Life” is making. Tickets are $60 per person, and include hors d’oeuvres and open bar. For more details or to make reservations, call 419-535-5800.
