TOLEDO—The annual 40 Days for Life campaign begins Sept. 21 as pro-life supporters from northwest Ohio join together for the kickoff event at 7 p.m. at 328 22nd Street, Toledo.
40 Days for Life is an intensive pro-life initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of peaceful vigil at abortion facilities and 40 days of grassroots educational outreach, according to Ann Barrick, spokesperson for the Toledo 40 Days for Life campaign.
The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods.
Toledo is one of the many communities conducting simultaneous 40 Days for Life campaigns from Sept. 22 through Oct. 31.
“We want to start this effort by drawing members of the community together to share the vision of 40 Days for Life and to pray for God’s blessings on this effort,” says Mrs. Barrick. “It is time to focus attention on the harm abortion has done to our city.”
The ecumenical campaign includes 40 days of prayer and fasting with special attention to prayer outside the abortion facility at 328 22nd St.
“We look forward to seeing what kind of transformation God will bring about in our city,” she adds.
Father Tony Recker, pastor of Toledo St. Joan of Arc, is to speak during the kickoff and 40 Days for Life yard signs are to be available for purchase.
