The state of Ohio released a new design for its vehicle license plates and drivers licenses in November and is asking for residents’ input on the words to be included.
The state motto, “With God all things are possible,” is among the 59 slogans for which Ohioans can cast a vote. Other options include landmarks such as Hocking Hills, Put-In-Bay and the Ohio Caverns; famous residents including Johnny Appleseed, the Wright Brothers and Annie Oakley; historical achievements including the first traffic light, Perry’s victory and the first professional baseball team; and many others that recall Ohio’s past and present.
Voters may visit MyPlate.Ohio.gov to cast their vote until Jan. 8. A message at the website says suggestions are to be reviewed and the final version is to be unveiled later in 2012.
Ned Behm, a member of Tiffin St. Mary, stumbled upon the opportunity and wanted to encourage others to promote voting for the state motto.
“Maybe if all of our diocese and parishioners rally around this opportunity, we can keep the founding fathers' intentions of Christianity prevalent in our society,” he wrote in an email.
