TOLEDO—Three graduates were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship by Bishop Leonard P. Blair in May.
The F. Edward Schaefer Scholarship awards, provided by the Catholic Diocese of Toledo Employee Benefit Fund, were awarded to Erinn Kaucher, of Central Catholic High School, Gabriella Cullen, of Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic High School, and Nicole Price, of Bellevue Senior High School.
The scholarships are given to a son or daughter of a participant in the Retirement Plan for Lay Employees in the Catholic Diocese of Toledo and are awarded with emphasis on service to church and community as well as leadership. Competition for this scholarship includes the entire 19-county area of the diocese. Mr. Schaefer, in whose memory the scholarship was founded, served on the retirement board for many years.
Erinn Kaucher is the daughter of Michael and Christine Kaucher. Mr. Kaucher is principal of Toledo Central Catholic High School. Erinn plans to attend The Ohio State University.
Nicole Price is the daughter of Arthur and Anne Price. Mrs. Price a first-grade teacher at Bellevue Immaculate Conception School. Nicole plans to attend The Ohio State University or Kent State University.
Gabriella Cullen is the daughter of Timothy and Paula Cullen. Mr. Cullen is the superintendent and principal of Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools. Gabriella plans to attend Cleveland State University.
