Felician Sister Mary Anisia Nowak died June 20 in Livonia, Mich., after 83 years of religious life. The former Agnes Nowak was born in 1910 to Anthony and Stella (Kaczmarek) of Detroit and entered the Felician Congregation in 1927.  She was invested with the habit in 1929 and made her final profession in 1936. Sr. Nowak earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Mary Manse College in Toledo and taught thousands of students across Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, including those at Toledo St. Anthony. At Guardian Angel Home in Detroit, she taught kindergarten and was the housemother for the nursery group of children. After Sr. Nowak’s teaching ministry ended in 1995, she was assigned as a seamstress to the vestry in Presentation Convent in Livonia for 11 years. Sr. Nowak was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Anna, Florence, Eleanor, Aloysius and Gertrude. She is survived by a brother, Frank, and nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
