Notre Dame Sister Mary Varonica Haaser, the former Marilyn Elizabeth Haaser of Fremont, died May 21 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Sr. Haaser entered the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1957 and for 46 years served in food service and as an elementary school teacher. She lived and ministered in many schools and parishes during her religious life including Fostoria St. Wendelin, Norwalk St. Paul, Delphos St. John, Fremont St. Joseph, Lial Convent in Whitehouse, and in Toledo at Maria Child Care, Sacred Heart, St. Michael, St. Mary, Mary Immaculate, Notre Dame Academy and the Notre Dame Provincial Center. She is survived by brother-in-law, Joseph Hermes, and nieces. She was preceded in death by a brother, Terry, and sister, Dianne Hermes.
