TOLEDO—Members of the Serra Club of Toledo delivered a special picnic spread to the Monastery of the Visitation Aug. 25.

The Serrans sponsor the picnic to coincide with an annual mini-golf outing and ice cream social the club hosts for all women religious of the diocese.

Since the Visitation Sisters have the privilege of papal enclosure, they spend most of their lives within the monastery, leaving only for business, medical needs and other duties. As contemplative nuns, their primary apostolate is prayer.

The Toledo Serrans attended Mass at the monastery in the morning and returned later that day to deliver the picnic food, which included chicken, cornbread, baked beans, various salads, “angel” eggs, fruit and root beer floats.
