TOLEDO—For parents, understanding their daughter in the real and cyberworld can be stressful and confusing.

Allyson Bowen, author of “Livin’ Out Loud: Today’s Girls and Technology” and “Mean Girls: 100 ½ Creative Strategies and Activities for Working with Relational Aggression,” shares insights that challenge and motivate parents to make positive changes within their families.
Parents of “tweens” and teens are invited to hear Ms. Bowen during a program at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at Notre Dame Academy. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Parents will learn cyberworld dynamics including cyber language, understand their daughter in the real world and cyberworld, gain insights into girl world dynamics and relationships and explore tips for staying techno-savvy and more.
Ms. Bowen is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice and co-owner and director of Turning Point Counseling in South Carolina. She focuses on educating “tweens,” teens and women about female relational issues and challenges. She is the founder and director of Girl Made, an organization promoting the empowerment of girls.
Ms. Bowen has led professional seminars and worked with youth across the U.S. and Canada on topics such as relational aggression, anger, bullying, cyber-bulling, peer relationships and adolescent behaviors and disorders. She works to educate parents about the daily perils of peer relationships their children face in school.
