SYLVANIA—The Lourdes University Drama Society opens its 2012-13 season with David Auburn’s “Proof” Sept 28-29 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 30 at 2 p.m.
Keith Ramsdell, the Society’s advisor, directs this award-winning drama that has become an international hit and a major motion picture.
“We’re excited to bring the winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play to the Lourdes’ stage,” says Mr. Ramsdell. “This humorous and compassionate story is the perfect kickoff for what promises to be an amazing season of theatre on our campus.”
The play focuses on Catherine, a troubled young woman who has spent years caring for her father, a brilliant but unstable mathematician. Following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions, the arrival of her estranged sister, and the attentions of her father’s former student. A burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father’s madness — or genius — will she inherit?
Performances are to be in the Franciscan Center Theatre. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Franciscan Center box office at 419-824-3999.
