WHITEHOUSE—Several retreats to foster personal growth are being offered at the Sisters of Notre Dame Lial Renewal Center.
Part 2 of “Spirituality — What’s Your Style?” is being presented Tuesdays in January. The program explores the spirituality of saints. Sessions are held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cost $20 each, including lunch.
Notre Dame Sisters Joan Marie Recker and Mary Valerie Schneider facilitate the Jan. 17 session in which the spirituality of the Sisters of Notre Dame is explored. Through storytelling and reflection, participants learn about the religious order’s foundress, Hilligonde Wolbring.
On Jan. 24, Ursuline Sister Patricia Meyer introduces participants to Sts. Francis and Clare of Assisi and Franciscan spirituality.
The Carmelite spirituality and St. Teresa of Avila are presented Jan. 31 by Notre Dame Sister Mary Rosellyn Theisen.
“Taking the exercises to the world” is a monthly series that investigates the themes of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Sessions are offered from 7-8:30 p.m. Jan. 4, Feb. 1 and Feb. 29. Facilitators are to provide materials for Scripture-based prayer between sessions. The cost for each session is $20.
For those looking for a more personal experience, Lial Renewal Center offers a personal mission retreat or participants can create their own retreat.
The personal mission retreat begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 and continues until 11 a.m. Jan. 22.
During the weekend retreat, Notre Dame Sister Joanne Mary Frania guides participants to find the deeper meaning of their life and the direction their life is meant to have. The process of discovering a personal mission — a unique reason for being — can ground people in a stability that frees, enlivens their days and helps them find meaning in each day.
The weekend retreat is $130, which includes a private room, meals, spiritual direction and materials.
Those who want to create their own retreat set their own agenda at Lial Renewal Center Jan. 20-22. Participants can find out how God is at work in their lives in quiet times and casual conversations with other retreatants. The cost is $80, including a private room and meals. Individual spiritual direction is available for an additional fee.
