SYLVANIA—Steven J. Durham has been named to the newly-created system performance improvement director for Franciscan Services Corporation (FSC).
As a member of the FSC staff, Mr. Durham is to provide additional resources and support to quality management, finance, customer satisfaction, statistical analysis, and performance improvement.
Mr. Durham began his career in health care as a respiratory therapist. He has held positions as a supervisor and education coordinator for respiratory care for three Mercy Health Partner hospitals in the Toledo area. He holds Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification, which is recognized worldwide as an effective program for changing people and businesses to make them more productive and efficient. As a Black Belt leader, he was responsible for planning, designing and facilitating strategic projects that focused on achieving financial and/or patient/customer satisfaction objectives at Mercy.
For the past two years, Mr. Durham was the manager for the Transformation of Care project at Mercy St. Charles Hospital and was responsible for the planning, development and implementation of this new department.
Mr. Durham holds a Bachelor of Science degree and an Executive MBA from the University of Toledo. His appointment is effective April 1, 2011.
Franciscan Services Corporation is the health and human services ministry sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania. FSC member organizations located in Ohio, Texas and Kentucky include five hospitals, seven long-term care facilities, four assisted living facilities, independent senior housing, a counseling center and a long-term shelter for victims of domestic violence.
