DEFIANCE—Joy Shakur, coordinator for Catholic Charities’ adoption program, is to speak June 26 at a meeting of the Mother Teresa Respect Life group in Defiance.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Holy Cross Catholic School Gym, 1745 S. Clinton St.
Catholic Charities’ adoption program works with couples of all faiths to facilitate domestic and international adoptions. Catholic Charities is a licensed agency for domestic adoptions for infants six months of age or younger. The organization encourages open domestic adoptions in which a relationship can be established between birth parents and adoptive parents. It also facilitates international adoptions by conducting home studies and serving as a liaison with foreign adoption agencies.
In addition, Catholic Charities provides pregnancy support to women in need.
Ms. Shakur is to speak about Catholic Charities’ adoption services and share stories of the program. For more information, contact Ms. Shakur at 419-244-6711, ext. 448.
Prior to the meeting, a rosary is to be prayed at 6 p.m. followed by Mass at 6:30 p.m. in the Holy Cross Catholic School Chapel.
