Central Catholic students earn awards at district science fair

TOLEDO—Fourteen students from Toledo Central Catholic High School participated in the District Science Day at the University of Toledo March 26.
Several students received special awards, and two will represent Central Catholic at the State Science Fair in May.
Sophomores Mary Carrigan and John Purviance received superior ratings for their projects and will go on to the State Science Fair. Mary received an outstanding physics award, and John received an energy award.
The following Central Catholic students also received superior ratings: senior Danielle Barnes, junior Gwen Brassell ($50 investigative science award) and junior Bernadette Reamer ($100 chemistry award).
The following students received excellent ratings: freshmen Alex McCartney and Megan Oberle (governor’s award for environmental science), sophomore Thomas Troy, junior Chris Drees and seniors Cameron Glover (outstanding chemistry award), Amanda Jerzykowski, Jason Mossing and Gabby Vasquez (outstanding physics award).
Junior Apai Aursoontorn received a rating of good at the science fair.
