NORWALK—Norwalk Catholic School has hired Sue Lesch to lead a new advancement and admissions office.
Ms. Lesch joins Wayne Babcanec, Sue Riley and Matt Fair in the school’s development efforts.
The advancement and admissions office is a direct response to the development goals set in the new strategic plan written by the Norwalk Catholic School Governing Board. Staff members of the office are responsible for all external relationships for the school, including development/fundraising, communications, admissions and alumni relations.
Dr. Babcanec, school president, sees Ms. Lesch’s addition as strengthening his development team.
“Norwalk Catholic School is extremely fortunate to hire someone of Sue’s caliber. With her skill set and fundraising expertise, she is uniquely qualified for this position,” he says.
The board’s directives to the new office are to develop strategies and set goals, oversee the creation of an annual plan for development and direct the development core team. The new position is being funded by sources independent of the school’s operating budget.
Board chair Chris Stang emphasizes the importance of the change.
“Our school exists and thrives because of the generosity of our benefactors,” he says. “We have had great successes in our development efforts. We expect the expansion of the office and the addition of Sue will take us to new heights in development.”
Ms. Lesch says she is “blessed to be working again at the Norwalk Catholic School. The school has led in innovation with so many outstanding academic programs, the early establishment of FCEDO, the smooth merger of the schools and now the establishment of this office. There is such a great team here and I am blessed to be a part of it.”
Ms. Lesch holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Heidelberg University and is a Certified Fundraising Executive. She has previously served as development director for the Firelands Catholic Education Development Office of the Norwalk Catholic School, as stewardship and development director for the Catholic Diocese of Toledo and as mayor of the city of Norwalk.
