Sponsored by the LCC Academic Booster Club (ABC) in conjunction with the LCC art and music departments, this Olde English dinner theater replaced the traditional Christmas band and choir concerts.
The vision was to host a community event that showcases Lima Catholic Schools student talent while celebrating the birth of our Lord and providing a sumptuous holiday feast for more than 230 guests. The program united the efforts of the combined elementary schools with hand cut snowflakes and singing with the special vocal, instrumental and performance talents of the high school.
The school entrance and halls were transformed into an Olde English castle. Before dinner, guests were treated to carols performed by the elementary choir, solos from high school artists, fortune-telling from an astrological soothsayer and drinks and appetizers.
The beauty of the season was enhanced by the singing of “Ave Maria” by Father David Ross and guests were welcomed into the castle banquet hall by the event king and queen, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brinkman.
After the Christ light was lit and a toast of wassail was shared, LCC students served a meal of roast pork, potatoes, carrots, rolls and apple crisp while the band, choir and madrigal singers provided entertainment.
The banquet feast culminated with a nativity drama from the Book of Luke narrated by Kathy Seitz and the singing of “Silent Night.”
