St. John’s Jesuit names new coaches

TOLEDO—A new varsity soccer coach and a new varsity golf coach have been named for Toledo St. John’s Jesuit High School.

Timothy J. Concannon is to lead the Titan soccer team while David A. Gigax has been tapped to lead the golf team.

Mr. Concannon is sales and business development manager for The Conference Board, is a member of the National Coaches Association of America and has both high school and collegiate soccer experience.

In high school, Mr. Concannon played  four years for McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, N.Y., serving as co-captain his senior year and leading the team to a City League championship. At the Division l collegiate level, Mr. Concannon played as a starting forward at Bowling Green State University from 1991 to 1995. BGSU ranked third nationally in soccer during his sophomore year in 1992. In college, Mr. Concannon was named Mid-Atlantic Conference Player of the Week and earned All Academic Honors his junior and senior years.

His coaching experience includes soccer camp coaching positions in Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania and coaching club teams in Cincinnati and Bowling Green. At the high school and elementary school levels, Mr. Concannon has coached at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Shawnee High School in Lima and Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School in Philadelphia.

At the collegiate level, Mr. Concannon coached soccer for Pennsylvania State University’s Abington Campus.

Mr. Gigax currently serves as director of golf instruction at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green. Mr. Gigax is a PGA Golf Professional with 20 years of experience in the golfing industry. He has also served as lead golf instructor for the Center Fore Golf Performance; director of golf and golf professional for Bedford Hills Golf Club; and golf and teaching professional at area golf clubs including Scotch Run Golf Center, South Toledo Golf Club, Eagle’s Landing Golf Club,  Sylvania Country Club and Highland Meadows Golf Club.

Mr. Gigax’s coaching experience includes serving as the assistant coach at Bedford High School, head coach at Blissfield High School and head coach at Oregon Cardinal Stritch High School.

He is a 1993 graduate of The University of Toledo and has been a member of the PGA since 1997, and has served as the Toledo Chapter’s vice president, secretary and treasurer.
