Speaker encourages being an active citizen
TOLEDO—Being a faithful citizen is just as important today, if not more so, than it was before last year’s presidential election, according to a speaker during the diocese’s First Thursday Luncheon Nov. 5.
Joan Rosenhauer, executive vice president of U.S. Operations for Catholic Relief Services, spoke about why we need to remain politically active. Before taking her post with CRS earlier this year, she worked for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and had lead staff responsibility in developing the 2007 document, “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship.”
