DELPHOS—Delphos St. John High School Alumni Association is to induct recipients into its Hall of Fame Nov. 27.

The association started the Hall of Fame eight years ago “to give our kids good role models and to tell them that even if they go to a small school in a small town, they can still do great things,” says Bob Ebbeskotte, class of 1981 and statistician for the alumni association.

This year’s inductees are Joseph Myers, class of 1968, for professional achievement; Deb Elwer Lindeman, class of 1979, for athletic achievement; Angeline "Mom" Miller for service to the school; and Msgr. Bertrand Shenk, honorary class of 1930, for service to mankind.

“They exemplify what St. John’s stands for,” Mr. Ebbeskotte says, noting the school’s values of Catholic teaching, discipline and academics.

The induction ceremony is at 12:30 p.m. with brunch in the All Saints building at the high school.

The event is free but reservations for brunch are required. Reservations may be made by Nov. 18 to Mr. Ebbeskotte at 419-692-0752 or rebbeskotte@woh.rr.com.

During a two-day garage sale fundraiser they hosted at Lima St. Rose in August, the Newman Student Outreach of OSU-Lima and Rhodes State College raised $1,100 to help the family buy the supplies they need to remodel. According to Sandy Connell, Lima campus minister, repair costs are expected to reach $40,000 to $50,000.

The Newman Student Outreach is a campus faith group that ministers through works of service. “We help a lot of families in need and when this happened I felt we should help them,” said Mrs. Connell.

Mrs. Goedde's daughter, Desiray, is a senior leader for the Newman group.

The Newman Student Outreach and friends from Columbus Grove have also planned a trip to Chicago to raise more money for the family. Tickets for the Oct. 15 day trip are $55, which includes bus transportation to Chicago from Columbus Grove. The bus leaves at 6 a.m. and returns at midnight, giving people time to explore downtown Chicago, Water Tower Plaza and Navy Pier.

For information or to purchase tickets, contact Sandy Connell at 419-999-5701.
