Deacon Francis H. Koenn, a senior deacon of the Diocese of Toledo, died July 6 at St. Anne Home in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born June 23, 1920, in Paulding County to Lawrence and Clemence M. (Grew) Koenn. In 1945 he married Mabel Claire Hickman, who preceded him in death in 2006. He was ordained a permanent deacon Aug. 16, 1980, and served for 30 years at Paulding Divine Mercy and the former Paulding St. Joseph. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus 3584 of Paulding and was a self-employed farmer and a U.S. Army veteran. Deacon Koenn is survived by 10 children, Mary Ellen Koenn, Larry (Diana) Koenn, Marg (John) Scott, Dan (Linda) Koenn, Marti (Larry) Overmyer, Madonna (John) Tritle, Monica (Mark) Mays, Jim (Alayna) Koenn, Jerry (Julie) Koenn, and Marcia (Steve) Pesicek; a brother, Ted (Madonna) Koenn; 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Rosalie Koenn.
