Ray H. Parmelee Jr., a deacon of the Diocese of Toledo assigned to Findlay St. Michael the Archangel, died June 23. Deacon Parmelee was born April 13, 1946, in Grand Rapids, Mich. to Ray H. Parmelee Sr. and Mary (Drenten) Parmelee. His mother survives in Findlay. He married Anna Lynn Williams May 31, 1969, and she survives along with his children, Ray H. (Nicole) Parmelee III, Robert S. Parmelee, Rebecca (Michael) Burrier, and Anne Marie Parmelee; grandchildren, Steven Tyler Parmelee, Madeline J. Parmelee, Christopher Burrier, Sydney K. Burrier, Natalie M. Parmelee and Evelyn K. Parmelee; and brother, Robert J. Parmelee. Deacon Parmelee worked at Cooper Tire & Rubber Company for 32 years and was ordained a permanent deacon May 17, 2003. He was a 1968 graduate of Murray State University, Murray, Ky., a 1986 graduate of The University of Findlay and he received his master’s degree from Tiffin University in 1994. In 2005 he also received a master’s degree of pastoral ministry from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn. Deacon Parmelee loved working with the youth of the parish, including confirmation candidates-CCD and RCIA.
