Ursuline Sister Mary Helen Venier, the former Helen Beatrice Venier, died July 12 at the Ursuline Center. Sr. Venier was a member of the Ursulines for 69 years, having entered the convent from Toledo Blessed Sacrament in 1940. She taught in Toledo at St. Teresa, Rosary Cathedral, Good Shepherd, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Angela Hall and in Tiffin at St. Joseph. She served as principal of Toledo St. Ursula Academy and St. Angela Hall, and was the first director of admissions at Mary Manse College. She also served as director of the guidance department at Toledo Central Catholic High School and was an administrative consultant with the Catholic School Services Office. Prior to joining the development office at St. Ursula Academy in 1989, she was a guidance counselor at the school. Sr. Venier also volunteered at Ronald McDonald House and the LAC at the University of Toledo. She served on a committee for upgrading Catholic schools as part of the NCEA, and as co-choir with Bishop James R. Hoffman on the Teacher-of-the-Year program. Sr. Venier was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Elaine Venier, nieces and nephews and her sisters in the Ursuline Community.
