TOLEDO—Even with seven swimmers away at another meet, the St. Francis de Sales High School Aqua-Knights won the 2010 Little Giant Invitational at Fremont High School with 498 points, defeating St John’s Jesuit, with 453 points.

The Knight divers dominated, led by junior Dylan Szegedi who took first while setting a new meet and pool record with 243.75 points. He was followed by sophomore Jake Booth (seventh place), sophomore Matt McKee (ninth place) and freshman Matthew Evola (20th place).

All swimmers contributed to the win, including first place winners Matt Zimmerman (200 free), first place 400 Free Relay (Matt Zimmerman, Matt Marshall, Nick Carmony, Connor Trimble) and the remaining members of the winning team, led by senior co-captain Billy Maginnis: Jack Meyers, Jordan Skie, Kyle Crawford, John Booth, Justin Carter, Zach Trimble, David Cerelli, Connor Aossey, Tom Quattromani and Matt Gustafson.

Meanwhile, at The Ohio State University, senior co-captain Jake Hunter led a team of seven Aqua-Knights to a second place finish with 229 points. Junior Rowan Williams led the scoring with first place in the 200 free (1:43.03) and the Knights’ 400 Free Relay (3:12.40) is now ranked first in the state. Scoring well for the Knights were DJ MacDonald, Phil Barone, Mike DiSalle, Dan DiSalle and Dan Miller.

The Knights next home meet is Jan. 22 against Findlay.
